Using my chart above and starting at the bottom right of chart, chain 45.  Chain an additional 3 to turn which will count as the first double crochet of the first row.  Double crochet in the 5th chain from the hook.  Double crochet in the next 2 chains to complete the bottom right solid square of the pattern.  Continue following the pattern for the first row reading from right to left.  After completing first row, ch 3 to turn to start next row.  Continue following the pattern until all rows are comleted.  At the end of row 54, fasten off.  You may add a tassle and block, if desired.
